PLEASE NOTE: A course may be canceled if registration is lower than five persons. Courses may also be canceled for any reason by the district or the instructor if extenuating circumstances arise. Registrants will be notified of a cancellation as soon as possible. In the event of a cancellation, registrations can be transferred to another course within this academy or a refund will be issued. If you no longer wish to participate in a course, please contact the district administrator no later than one week before the course date. Refunds will not be issued for cancellation requests made less than a week prior to the course date.
RECERTIFICATION: Certified Lay Servants and Speakers must recertify every 3 years. Certified Lay Ministers must recertify every 2 years. Reenter into lay servant ministries by retaking a basic and an advanced course if recertification is not completed within the required 2- or 3-year time frame.
CERTIFICATES: Upon successful completion of the course, please contact Elizabeth Stemley, District Director at firstname.lastname@example.org to request a certificate of completion. Please keep a copy of your certificate; it will be needed at the time of church conference season. Please note the following: the district office does not issue certificates, please contact Min. Elizabeth Stemley for your certificate; the district office does not issue replacement certificates, please contact Min. Elizabeth Stemley. Certified Lay are required to maintain a copy of their certificates. Additionally the certificate only verifies course completion and does not confirm your lay servant status.
TEXBOOKS: Order books early! Textbooks will not be available in class. For your convenience, the ISBN number is provided the following title of the textbook. Visit the website at www.cokesbury.com or call 800-672-1789.However, feel free to order from other book distributors such as Amazon (www.amazon.com). All participants will need to have the required textbook to complete assignment and to bring to class. Please contact Min. Elizabeth Stemley if you have any issues regarding textbooks.
ASSIGNMENTS: Registrants will receive reading assignments and pre-course work prior to the first class. This work is required to be submitted to the instructor on the first day of class and will be counted toward the 10-hour course requirement. Please contact your instructor directly or Min. Elizabeth Stemley regarding assignments.
