Join us for our Annual Pilgrimage Bus Trip as we visit sites around the Baltimore-Washington Conference!
This year's focus will be on the Washington Conference, the Historically Black portion of our conference boundaries, as we wrestle with questions about race, justice, and equality. This year's trip focuses on the Baltimore sites. A future trip will go to the DC sites. Free parking is available at Lovely Lane UMC (2200 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD). The bus is climate-controlled and has a bathroom on board. This Pilgrimage does involve some walking. Please come prepared. Registration begins at 9am at Lovely Lane UMC, and we will conclude the day there. You will be provided with an overview of Pilgrimage Spirituality, and Washington Conference history. In between, we will visit Strawberry Alley (the location of Frederick Douglass' church), the original location of Sharp Street (the Mother Church of Black Methodism), the current location of Sharp Street Memorial with a tour of the historic sanctuary, museum, and archival center, and the final stop will be Mt. Auburn Cemetery—known colloquially as "the City of the Dead" for African Americans. Lunch will be catered by a Black-owned catering company. Full participants can earn .6 CEUs if requested.
Please contact Rev. Dr. Bonnie McCubbin at bmccubin@bwcumc.org with any questions.
